Electrical insulating oil

Shell Diala S is an uninhibited electrical insulating fluid specially designed for use in large power and distribution transformers.

It is a special, highly pure raffinate with particularly good flow and low pour point characteristics. 

Applications 

Shell Diala S is primarily intended for use in:

    Large power and distribution transformers

Performance Features

   Excellent cooling and heat transfer properties

      A very low pour point and minimal change of viscosity give Shell Diala S its remark- able cooling capacity

   Natural stability and resistance to oxi-dation 

      Possesses an natural stability and good resistance to oxidation without the use of additives.  Limits the formation of organic acids and deposits due to the action of oxygen in the air at the operating temperatures and to the catalytic effect of iron and copper.  The formation of these harmful deposits has an adverse effect on the efficient operation of transformers.

      Shell Diala S satisfies the increasingly severe stability requirements of the accelerated oxidation test part of IEC 296.

   Excellent dielectric properties

       A figure of >70 kV for processed fresh oil is an indication of its excellent insulating capacity

   Compatible with construction materials

      Compatible with all common construction materials used in electrical systems

Shell Diala S does not contain PCBs

Storage Precautions

The critical electrical properties of Shell Diala S are easily compromised by minute concent-rations of contaminants.  Typically encountered contaminants include moisture, particulates, fibres and surfactants.  Therefore, it is impera-tive that electrical insulating oils be kept clean and dry.

It is strongly recommended that storage con-tainers be dedicated for electrical service and include air-tight seals.      It is further recom-mended that electrical insulating oils be stored indoors in climate-controlled environments.

Health & Safety

Shell Diala S is unlikely to present any sign-ificant health or safety hazard when properly used in the recommended application, and good standards of industrial and personal hygiene are maintained.
